Welcome to the Cinnamon Post Brunch Club (CPBC)!
We’re three friends living in Washington state who like to talk about the movies, games, and shows we love, and starting today we’ll be posting some of those conversations here. We would love to have you join us.
Celia Schlekewey is a Seattle-based film critic and impending law school student. She is a writer and podcaster for NextBestPicture.com and
Filmotomy.com. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2018 with a BA in Psychology, which she surprisingly doesn’t regret, even though she probably should. She is impressed by people who organize parking ahead of time and has yet to watch a worthless movie.
Kiersten Ryan is a former EMT and current airline worker, Dungeon Master, and cat mom. She also made the logo for this website, which is very cool.
Alex Bruell is a Longview-based crime and courts journalist at The Daily News, a small-town newspaper with a coverage area of about 110,000 people. Due to his current job, he doesn’t use the oxford comma, which is sure to upset chic librarians, neo-grammarians and linguistic contrarians.
The three of us share a love for highly artistic indie games like Grim Fandango, Undertale, and Stardew Valley, as well as big beefy black holes like World of Warcraft and Skyrim. And we’ve got similar tastes when it comes to film and TV.
Together on CPBC, we’ll be releasing a podcast and two or three articles each week. They’ll range in content from hot takes, inspections of how a game’s themes affect its gameplay, interviews with artists and designers, conversations about recently released films, and musings on the moral and aesthetic concerns of our favorite video games.
In the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing a podcast conversation about the refreshingly fun “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” Celia’s application letter to Yale (from where she was rejected but is too good for anyway), and a smorgasbord of pieces on some of the games both new and old that we’ve been playing lately.
We hope you enjoy! And with that…
